Unit 4 Ashgrove Industrial Estate, Kill Avenue, Dún Laoghaire, Dublin, A96 HP90At MMC we want to encourage good habits. Move well, eat well, sleep well. What we put into our body will have a huge effect on how we feel and how we respond to internal and external stressors. Internal stressors include our thoughts and feelings. Unfortunately, a large proportion of our thoughts can be negative. Telling ourselves that we can’t do this or we wouldn’t be good enough for that. Or that we have to look a certain way or perform a certain way. Poor food choices can fuel fatigue, energy crashes and low mood. This can result in this negative thinking. This isn’t good for your ability to move well or live healthily.
On the other hand, good food choices can improve our mood. give us energy. enable us to move well. And generally benefit our overall health. The key is good habits. We don’t have to be perfect all the time. And you don’t have to change a lifetime of food choices instantly. It’s a process. Taking the first step is the most important thing. A good way of looking at it is the 80:20 rule. If 80% of your choices are good, you’re on thee right track. Then the odd snack or treat along the way can be enjoyed guilt free. In fact they should be encouraged as part of a balanced diet. Everything in moderation.
If you are struggling, here are some good tips.
Examples of good food choices:
